The Israel Sport Center for the Disabled is one of the world pioneers in the field of sports rehabilitation. The Center opened its gates in 1960 and specializes in the physical and psychological rehabilitation of children and youth. For more than fifty years, our remarkable staff and volunteers have encouraged the disabled to participate in a variety of sports activities and to benefit from the countless ways in which sports is healing.
OUR ACTIVITIES
The kindergarten at the Israel Sport Center for the Disabled has been in existence for the past 25 years. It serves over 35 disabled children (aged 3-7) from the local area.
This special program, sponsored in 2005 by the Kennedy Leigh Charitable Trust of the U.K., comprises over 200 disabled children in hydrotherapy and adapted group activities (such as Judo, Table Tennis and Yoga). Additional program offers over 500 children one-on-one hydrotherapy and sport therapy sessions.
The ISCD offers adults a rehabilitative sports program for adults with various types of physical disabilities, aged 18 and above. This program is supervised by our top professional staff including Dr. Yaron Sachar, a rehabilitative physician, Dr. Yeshayahu Hutzler, Director of the rehabilitation program and professor at the Zinman College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences.
