1. What is your dream career? Why?
To continue working with children who have disabilities. I love interacting with children because of what I gain from them – it’s more than I could ever give them.
2. What advice can you give to other wheelchair users when taking a flight? Any tips or suggestions?
Plan ahead and talk to the airline regarding details of accessibility. Secondly, talk to the ramp supervisor and let them know how to secure and stow the wheelchair, let them know how much the wheelchair weighs, and how much it costs.
3. What is the biggest challenge that you have overcome so far in your lifetime?
Surviving a life-threatening accident and the rehabilitation required… including the accessibility of it all, especially bathrooms and insurance.
4. How do you prepare for the Ms. Wheelchair America competition? What is your daily routine like leading up to the competition?
There was no special preparation. I made appearances representing my state as a titleholder. I also listened and shared that disabilities don’t define us!
5. What has been your proudest moment and why?
My proudest moment has been representing my state at as a titleholder for the Ms. Wheelchair America organization. It has allowed me to advocate for all types of disabilities.
