My Spinal Cord Injury & Recovery
My name is Cristina, I am 32 from Barcelona. I had a car accident 18 months ago and broke my spinal cord and arm. As a result I had D9 (in Spanish D stands for Dorsal). I spent almost one year in a clinic to recover function of my arm because it broke again in rehab.
I had to learn to live again, but I am back to my normal life! Nowadays I live with my dog and boyfriend, and I am pregnant! I bought a car and drive around the city. With my car, I go to the gym and rehab. The gym's name is @stepbystep in Barcelona.
I used to be a teacher, and after the baby is born I want to work in an area that will help people. I also plan on going back to school for a masters in psychology. I also love travel! Since I have been in a wheelchair, I have visited Morocco, Tuscany, Canary Islands, and Munich.
Everything is different since my accident and it wasn't easy at first, but I am doing much better. I have learned so much about myself, I face my problems, and solve them! We can do whatever we want to do. Change is so difficult, but we can live fully, love, be loved, have kids, etc. Everything is inside our mind and life is beautiful ❤️
