The Roller Coaster of Emotions with Cerebral Palsy

Honest Feelings with Cerebral Palsy

“It’s okay to cry when you’re hurt. It’s okay to hurt, but, wash your face, clean your mess, and get up off the floor when you’re done.” I’m not going to lie, life isn’t always perfect. We all know this. I try to stay positive for you all, but with these posts I’m trying to be real, so I need to be honest. Life is real, so we need to be as well. Watching others do what you want to do with ease, and hearing people makes it clear that you still need help with some things at 20 years old, hurts the heart more than you know.

“Differences” is a hard pill to swallow some days, but when I have a bad day, I have to realize how far I’ve come and have hope that I will get where I need to be with the hard work that I am doing. I may still need some help. Things may take longer for me to do, but we all have to start somewhere. My story may not be typical, but I wouldn’t change it for the world because I have the opportunity to wake up every day and add new pieces and experiences to a unique story. I am beyond blessed to have the opportunity to make a difference in this world. Be honest about your feelings. You have no idea who you are helping with your story. Someone (and multiple people) will accept you for being your true self.
