Growing Up With Cerebral Palsy
I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, left hemiplegic and dystonia when I was 11 months old. Growing up I wore multiple splints for both my left leg and arm/hand.

Botox Did Not Help My Cerebral Palsy
As a child I wouldn’t complain about my Cerebral Palsy until I turned 13 years old. I started getting Botox in my left calf muscle to relax, which caused the spasms and tightness to move to my foot and toes. My left toes started to curl under my left foot, which was so uncomfortable! I used to only be able to walk only 10 steps without having to take my shoes and socks off to just uncurl my toes with my hand and put everything back to carry on.

The Operation That Changed My Life With Cerebral Palsy For The Better
In October 2016 I had enough and decided to have my toes fused. My little toes had the cartilage removed and a pin through the middle and my big toe had cartilage removed and a screw placed to hold my toe straight. I also had my tendons lengthened in my foot. After six weeks, the pins in my toes were removed and stitches removed. Unfortunately, the screw will have to stay in for the rest of my life.
BUT I don’t care as the operation worked and now I can walk without having to stop to uncurl my toes, which I’m so happy about. My confidence has grown loads over the last year. I’m so happy I decided to have the operation to change my life for the better!

באוקטובר 2016 החלטתי שהספיק לי. מבהונותיי הקטנות הוסרו הסחוסים והוכנסו סיכות ובבוהן הגדולה הוסר סחוס ובורג הוכנס כדי להחזיק את הבוהן שלי ישרה. גם הגידים שלי התארכו ברגל. אחרי שישה שבועות הוסרו הסיכות באצבעותי והתפרים הוצאו. לרוע המזל, הבורג יצטרך להישאר עד סוף חיי.
אבל לא אכפת לי כי הניתוח הצליח ועכשיו אני יכולה ללכת בלי לעצור וזה עושה אותי כל כך מאושרת. הביטחון שלי עלה בהמון בשנה האחרונה. אני כל כך שמחה שהחלטתי לעבור את הניתוח כדי לשנות את חיי לטובה!
