Miss Wheelchair Chile: Paula Miranda Turns Dreams Into Reality

Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)

Pauu Miranda

I cannot walk, but I can fly for my dreams!!!

My name is Paula Pilar Miranda Nevé, I am 28 years old and I am Chilean. I was born in the city of Viña del Mar and studied all my childhood and adolescence at the Sacred Hearts School of Valparaíso. In 2008 I entered the University to study Basic Education; One year later I switched to Physical Education, since sports were always part of my life (selected in artistic gymnastics, volleyball, athletics and scouting).

When I was starting my second year of Physical Education in March of 2011, I was in an automobile accident that changed my physical condition leaving me with a Tetraplegia. After a year of hospitalization and rehabilitation I returned home to continue my daily life. This is how I began studying at the University again, opting for a career in Psychology. After three years of the accident I met again with Mauricio Torres with whom we began a relationship that led us to commit ourselves to Christmas 2014 and get married on September 26, 2015. Today, with two years of marriage, I was chosen to represent Chile in Poland in the Miss Wheelchair World- I am now Miss Wheelchair Chile 2017. Currently, we are finishing our university studies, participating in an adapted rugby team, I am an ambassador for companies and I work in an inclusive modeling academy. I cannot walk, but I can fly for my dreams!!!
