Healthy, Active, and Paralyzed with a Spinal Cord Injury
I'm Liz Dunn and in 2010 I broke my neck in a car accident which resulted in a C6 spinal cord injury. The injury may have affected my ability to move, but I was not going to let it take away my passion for food, sports, and travel. A few years after my injury, I returned to college and have since completed both undergraduate and graduate degrees in nutrition and dietetics. I am now a Registered Dietitian with a passion for using food and nutrition to help others living with disabilities.
As a lifelong athlete, I was devastated when it hit me that I could no longer run or snowboard. However, a few years after my injury I was introduced to wheelchair rugby and fell in love with the sport. I play rugby regularly with my local team. I have also tried sit skiing, kayaking, handcycling, and more.
Travel is also a huge part of my life. In addition to two cross country road trips, I've gone skiing in Colorado, have explored parts of Hawaii, and a lot more. I am always looking for the next adventure!
