Initial Injury
My name is Ashley and I have a Spinal Cord Injury as a result of an automobile accident in 1996 when I was 5 years old. My doctors didn't check my spinal cord for swelling and didn't follow proper medical procedures. While their error most likely cost me the ability to walk, I have gained so much more in life through the obstacles I have overcome.
Being able to walk doesn't mean freedom. Your attitude does. I have been able to travel the world, marry the man of my dreams, become a teacher, and so many more things. I'm proud of my wheelchair and everything it entails.
