Amputeesupport- Your pain today can be someone`s light tomorrow.
If amputation is the only choice you have, you are feeling afraid, ashamed, and maybe useless. At this point, it may help you to talk to somebody, who experienced similar struggles before.
I`m an amputee since 2013 and I want to offer my experiences regarding technicians, prosthetics, and other amputee issues to new amputees.
That`s the reason why I`m part of the project "Peers im Krankenhaus". We are a group of experienced amputees of any age, male and female, and with different kinds of amputations. Our volunteering work as peer counselors at hospitals is so precious for the patients.
Normally a good conversation helps the patient to think more positively about the future as an amputee. It makes me happy and thankful, to see that they feel a little better after our conversation. Sometimes I stay in contact with them further on and it`s fantastic to see how they adapt to their new life.
Because of Covid19, it wasn`t possible to do any volunteering work at hospitals in the last few months. So additionally I launched my blog "Perspektivenwechsel mit Prothesen". Amputees, relatives, and everybody else, who is interested in the challenges of an amputee life, is wholeheartedly welcome to join the community. I share my own experiences and I also give other amputees the chance to share their stories in short interviews. You can also get in contact via Instagram or reach out via Facebook if you have any questions.
