Diagnosis
At the age of 17, I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease after years of going to the toilet with diarrhea or not being able to go for weeks at a time from constipation. After a Colonoscopy, numerous blood tests, an MRI scan, x-rays, ultrasounds and poo samples it was confirmed I had Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
My Immune System Gave Me Other Gifts!
The next 9 years came with more diagnoses of various chronic illnesses. I also had my Ileostomy surgery in 2015 followed by barbie butt surgery a few months later - both due to sepsis. The conditions are: Behcets Disease, Inflammatory Arthritis, Chronic Pain, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Migraines, Pernicious Anemia, a rare form of Crohn's Disease, HyperMobility Syndrome and Asthma.
The Fertility Side
I've struggled with Fertility since before my diagnosis of Crohns and Colitis. I’ve had 5 miscarriages. In 2017 I was told that due to my Crohn's Disease and my permanent stoma that I would not be able to have children. It was truly heartbreaking as when I met the right person, all I wanted was a family to call my own. Now at 26, I'm 6 months pregnant with my rainbow baby due in October! It's been a very tough pregnancy through sickness and a condition called PGP but I am desperate to meet my little bundle!! My partner also has a stoma and Crohns and so we look after eachother.
