My life as a wheelchair user

Spina Bifida (SB)

Hannan

My story

Hey everyone my name is Hannan, I am 18 years old. I was born and raised in Pakistan a country that holds a special place in my heart and moved to the UK a few years back. I was born with a condition called Spina Bifida. It is a condition where your spine doesn't develop properly causing it to have a gap. This means that I have to use a wheelchair in my everyday life because I am unable to use my legs. There are different types of Spina Bifida. The type I have is severe. The doctors said to my mom that I will not be able to speak and sit up properly. Here I am 18 years later I can talk and sit up properly all by the will of Allah. I also have a shunt in my head which gets rid of extra fluid from my head down to my stomach.  I look at my disability as a gift given to me by God. Currently, I study a computing course in college, which I enjoy studying.  My plan for the future is to get a good job in the IT industry. If I have the opportunity to say something to all the disabled people around the world, I would say to them don't let their disability stop them from achieving their dreams!
