Celebrating my Differences and my Journey
Hello! I am Michael. I am from Ireland. I am 5. I love life, nature, and my family. My best friend is Rose, our golden Irish dog. I am hyperlexic which means I can read although I might not understand everything. I have memorized all the Dr. Seuss Classics, and love anything about the Solar System. I can recite the whole periodic table and sing the I Lava You song in three different languages (although my pronunciation is still developing). I was born with a virus called CMV which resulted in a few ‘labels’: cerebral palsy, microcephaly, developmental delay, hearing loss (I have no hearing in my right ear and a mild-moderate loss in my other ear), and vestibular impairment. I am also on the autism spectrum. All these ‘labels do not define who I am. I learn, think and move differently but that’s what makes me unique. Aren’t we all?
