Sharmeen the CP Warrior

Hi, my name is Sharmeen Sandhu. I am a twin and I turned eight on 24th Dec last year. The chances of my survival were very low, my colon was ruptured before birth & I went under major surgery after I was born. My NICU stay was of 50 days. Doctors called me a miracle baby because I survived beyond all odds. I was diagnosed with spastic diplegia Cerebral Palsy at the age of 1.5 years. I took my first steps with a walker and started talking at the age of 4. My mom started with my unlimited therapy appointments. My mom kept exploring treatment options. And finally, I was accepted for SDR surgery with Dr.Parks at St.Louis children’s hospital. After the surgery, I started walking with canes and walking independently inside the house. I’m a very strong, determined, and independent girl. My family has made me accept my disability and I can do anything 😊
