When I fall, I get back up and do it again-- Spina Bifida isn't stopping me!
Kumaka is a 9 year old who was born with Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus and bilateral club feet. When he was younger, he was in and out of the hospital for infections and multiple surgical procedures and we thought that would be his life forever. At 5 years old, he received a wheelchair that would literally change his world. It was a WCMX chair. From that moment on he became unstoppable. He loves the skatepark, being the youngest at 7 years old to drop in a 9 foot bowl. His goal is to do a backflip one day! He has been known to say "when I fall I get back up and do it again". Not only does he love the skatepark, he loves surfing, playing basketball, sled hockey and mono skiing. This year he signed himself up to play soccer and basketball with the typical kids at school and had a blast. It didn't matter to him that he was the only kid in a wheelchair.
