Disabled Fashionista

This story begins on August 23, 1990. I sat anxiously in the hospital waiting room with my dads side of the family. The moment I was brought to this world something was different. I was taken right away to another part of the hospital. It became clear something was wrong. The doctor came back and told my parents I would not ever be able to walk. I had been missing my right leg, a toe on my left foot, and my fingers were underdeveloped. There was definitely chaos all over that hospital with my family. Everyone was crying, shouting, and scared. They all believed I would never live a normal life. That all changed with the help of Shriners Hospital for Children. I was a patient of their's for 19 years and without them I would not be where I am today. I fully function, work over 40 hours a week, and I go to school. The motivations that keep me going are music and fashion. When I attend concerts it takes me to a different world and I know my dreams can be a reality. Fashion would have to be my own type of art. I constantly strive to always keep up to date with the newest look. I firmly believe no matter what disability you have you can always chase your dreams, all you have to do is believe in yourself.
