Accessible Activities? No!

Introduction

I think there should be more activities for physically disabled people to do. There are things for people who have disabilities to do if they can use their hands, but my type of disability affects all four of my limbs, and I do not have a lot of control over my hands. There must be other people out there who have little or no use of their hands.

Frustrating

I don’t know about you, but it really frustrates me that no one has thought about setting up more activities for physically disabled people to do without needing the use of their hands. I cannot be the only one, can I?

Too Far

Yes, there must be some activities out there that you do not need your hands for, but for all I know, they are too far away for some people to travel to. That is the case for me anyway.

It Is Possible

I think that it is possible to create more activities for people who have not got the use of their hands because it has been done before but in other parts of the world. I think it is possible to create activities that you can use other parts of your body to participate in. For example; if someone has more use of their feet than their hands, then why can't they participate using their feet?

We Need More

In a way, I think that people who cannot use their hands are at a disadvantage because they probably want to get out there and do things but they cannot because there is not anything that is physically possible for them to do.

I'm Becoming Bored

I have respite care a couple of times a week but I have trouble thinking about what I can do. I think one of the reasons why I find it so difficult to choose what I want to do when I have respite care has a lot to do with this. When I go out, there are only a few activities that I can do, and I do them in a cycle, one week I go swimming, the next I go to Fareham or Gosport and the week after, Gunwharf. I am running out of things to do, and I will become bored of doing the same things over and over again.

Fair?

Ask yourselves this: Is this fair?

Share

I believe that the more people share this, the more chance we have with doing something about this. Please share this with your family and friends to see if we can reach this goal and help change opportunities for physically disabled people who do not have use of their hands.

Thank You

Thank you to everyone who has helped with this so far, I could not do it without you.

I aim to raise awareness about disabilities because I feel that it is important for everyone to be aware of. My website: http://ailsas.wixsite.com/brainsonwheels.
