Stumps are the best kitchen tools

How it started...

The last few years have been full of... well... everything :) I was diagnosed with a gluten intolerance, decided to make the switch from being a vegetarian to going full vegan (no animal products), and started dealing with depression. Slowly I realized that starting to cook my own meals was an important part of my overall health, and once I got into trying out a few new recipes I was hooked!

Stump Kitchen

I decided to create a YouTube channel that captured the amazing ways that I use my stump (I was born a below elbow left arm amelia a.k.a without my left hand) in the kitchen as a cooking tool. As the weeks progressed I became more and more confident in the kitchen and was starting to create really delicious dishes! Filming and editing was getting easier too, and was a really fun passion project for me.

Creating joy with stumps and food

After editing the first episode of Stump Kitchen I surprised myself with how joyful and free I looked on camera. Watching myself actaully reminded me that I did have the capacity for happiness... it was just hidden from me by my depression. So the show has really turned into a project in self love. Now I work with other folks with limb differnece, kids and adults, and with people with a huge range of abilities and diverse bodies. I want to do this for the rest of my life!
