My name is Dubraska and I'm the mother of a super special girl named Dariuska Alessandra Rodriguez Ramos. She is six years old, and when she was 10 months old she was diagnosed with periventricular leukomalacia, pregressive encephalopathy, and spastic quadriplegia. Dariuska has been receiving therapy since she was a baby which has helped her acquire many skills. Unfortunately the cost of these therapies is very high, and progress is slow but we are equally proud that she has been a fighter and has always pushed forward to do better every day.
Thank God, Dariuska is a girl who is cognitively astute, understands everything, fluent in her expressive and receptive language skills, and is very intelligent. She has a unique personality, loves to sing, laugh and enchants anyone who gets to meet her, she is an angel. In many instances, these blessings can also be a curse, when she realizes and understands that there are some activities or games that she physically can't participate in. Dairuska can stand alone for a short amount of time, her steps are short and unsteady and because her balance control is weak, she moves in awkward postures.
But there is hope, there is another way to help her overcome these obstacles through a surgical procedure called SDR, Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (Risotomia Selective Dorsal). Our family has submitted all the necessary documtation to the hospital in St. Louis, and our Princess was APPROVED as a candidate!!!
This surgery will be held at the St. Louis Children's Hospital in the United States, and will reduce the spasticity that overcomes most of Dariuska's muscle, giving her better control and stability as she learns to walk. It will allow her to activate her muscles in a better sequence and prevent contractures, and maladaptive postures and movements.
This surgery is very expensive, so we are asking for as much collaboration as possible. But we have hope - our friends, family, extended friends, even strangers might be inspired by our beautiful daughter and contribute towards our financial cause. Please send us love and prayers, and help our daughter achieve a goal we have only dreamed of..... to walk, to run, and to play with her friends!

Yo soy Dubraska, mama de una niña súper Especial llamada Dariuska
Alessandra Rodríguez Ramos, tiene seis años de edad, a sus 10 meses fue diagnosticada con Leucomalacia Periventricular, Encefalopatía no progresiva tipo Cuadriparesia Espástica. Desde bebe asiste a terapias que la han ayudado a adquirir muchas habilidades, pero el costo de las misma es elevado y la evolución es lenta, pero igual orgullosos de que ella ha sido una luchadora y siempre con ganas de hacerlo mejor cada día.
Gracias a Dios, Dariuska es una niña que cognitivamente está muy bien, entiende todo, habla fluidamente, controla esfínteres y es muy inteligente. Tiene una personalidad única, le gusta cantar, reír y quien la conoce queda maravillado con ella, es un ángel. En muchos momentos, estas fortalezas o aspectos positivos que Dariuska tiene, a veces están en contra, porque experimenta la frustración al querer hacer cosas y no poder. Ella puede sostenerse sola por muy poco tiempo, su marcha también es muy corta y no es buena, y su cuerpo adopta posiciones incorrectas.
Existe otra manera de ayudarla a través de un procedimiento quirúrgico llamado SDR, Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (Risotomia Selectiva Dorsal), por lo que enviamos toda la documentación exigida para esta cirugía y nuestra princesa es buena candidata para la realización de la misma.
Esta cirugía se realizara en el Hospital de St. Louis Children´s en los Estados Unidos, le permitirá a Dariuska la reducción en su mayor totalidad del tono muscular y una marcha independiente con mayor control en sus movimientos y equilibrio, a su vez permitirá también evitar cualquier mal formación en su cuerpo, por lo que para ella es muy significativa dicha operación.
Esta cirugía es muy costosa, por lo que se requiere de la mayor colaboración posible. Pero tenemos esperanza de que nuestros amigos, familiares, amigos extendidos e incluso extraños puedan ser inspirados por nuestra bella hija y contribuir a nuestra causa financiera, necesitamos apoyo económico y de oración, para que nuestra hija logre la meta que hemos soñado, caminar, correr, jugar con sus amigos , le agradeceríamos de corazón nos ayudaran aportando su granito de arena, sabremos que lo podrán hacer para lograr efectuarle la operación a nuestra hermosa guerrera.
