Art Garden CSA

I Am Kevin White. I am An Artist

As an artist, I describe my paintings as exciting, calming, multi-colored, and soothing. My artwork is as diverse as the man I am. I think I am an impactful painter and digital artist, and my work adds vibrancy to every environment that it’s showcased.

A participant in Matheny’s Arts Access program since its start more than 20 years ago, my paintings and digital work have been featured in many locales. Venues include the Johnson & Johnson IT Building in Raritan, NJ, The Atrium Gallery in Morristown, NJ, NESC Gala in NYC, Monmouth Museum in NJ, Bernardsville Library, NJ, UMDNJ Medical School in Newark, NJ, and Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ. I enjoy painting now. Not sure how long I will paint. But I like the fact that people can see my paintings hanging up in an exhibit. These days, I like doing the smaller paintings. I can finish a painting faster. I used to like doing larger paintings.  I may feel differently in the future.

Unique pairings of geometric shapes and bold tones are often front and center in my art.  According to Arts Access Painting Facilitator Joe Matousek, he claims that I enjoy using all the painting tools, techniques, and textures that are made available to me during my creative process. I recently created the pattern and shape for a flower that will be used as a continuous pattern in a piece I am currently painting.

I also have a penchant for the color white, using it as a solo color or combining it with other shades. A self proclaimed forward thinker, I sometimes comes up with unusual textures. I once used pencil shavings to create an out-of-the-box texture that was different than what I’d ever used before. The end results of my paintings, as well as digital art, are always visually interesting. I accomplish my goal of creating works that run the gamut from calming and creative to exhilarating and unique. To put it simply, I'd like to say that I do it all.

Art Garden CSA

Not one to rest on my laurels, I am proud to be one of ten artists participating in the second year of The Art Garden CSA (Community Supported Art).  The project, which is funded by a grant from the Kessler Foundation, is a partnership between Arts Access and Arts Unbound in West Orange.

The Art Garden is based on the premise of people buying “shares” of art. Each share contains 10 pieces of art, and all pieces are created by artists with disabilities. The collection of art in this year’s share is a wonderful combination of wearable, functional and traditional contemporary art. Fifty (50) shares are available this year, and can be bought as full (10 pieces) or half (5 pieces) shares. To learn more and to purchase, please visit www.artgardencsa.org.

Also, I am an avid choreorgrapher. Check out my first solo work below performed at Full Circle 2016 | Conversations through my art program at Arts Access www.artsaccessprogram.org
