I Am A Warrior Fighting Amniotic Band Syndrome (ABS)

Blindness or Visual Impairment

Helianny Buitrago

Miracles Exist In Faith

My name is Helianny Buitrago, and I am 2 years old from Venezuela. When I was born, I was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus, Anaphylaxis, and Amniotic Band Syndrome (ABS).

I am a little girl who has overcome many medical diagnoses since I was in my mother's belly. Doctors wanted to terminate me because of all my deformations, and they strongly believed that I would die. They thought that after my umbilical cord was cut, I would be a vegetable if I even lived. My mother believed in my life and clung to her faith in God. Here I am living healthy despite my condition!

Amniotic Band Syndrome (ABS) Doesn't Stop Me

I have no eyes, nasal pyramid, or bone in the upper part of my head, and dactyly (arrangement of digits in fingers and toes) in both hands, cleft lip, and partially cleft palate. I have already been intervened twice due to the pressure valve in my head.     Soon we will travel to another country so I can receive a cranial reconstruction. I currently attend different physiotherapies, and I'm trying to crawl. Miracles exist, and I am one of them.
