The Accident That Caused My Spinal Cord Injury
When I was three years old, I was involved in a car accident with my mother when a driver of a semi-truck was driving on the wrong side of the road. I sustained a spinal cord injury while my mother suffered a permanent brain injury. I never felt any pity for myself because sitting in a wheelchair is all I can remember. I think that we as humans are good at adapting to just about any situation. However, I do feel sorry for my mother who was on her way to achieving great accomplishments.
Having A Spinal Cord Injury Does Not Stop Me
I also have never allowed being in a wheelchair to prevent me from doing what I want to achieve. I just completed my Bachelor of Arts in Classical Languages and will be graduating with Honors.
It can be tricky planning an accessible vacation, but I persist in my desire to travel the world. I am going to Italy next week, so stay tuned if you are interested in seeing what adventures I am up to!
