1. What is your favorite life quote or words of wisdom that you live by?
“You must do the things you think you cannot do.” – Eleanor Roosevelt “It’s our choices, far more than our abilities that make us who we truly are.” -Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
2. If you were at a public business and asked for the nearest bathroom and then discovered it was not accessible what would you do? Who would you speak to? What would you tell them?
I would ask to speak to whoever is in charge at this business and politely explain to them that I, and any other person with a disability or even an elderly person would be unable to use the bathroom. I would provide them with resources on how they could go about making the bathroom more accessible.
3. What made you decide to want to run for Ms. Wheelchair America?
I have been advocating for disability rights my entire life, and I realized that Ms. Wheelchair America would give me an opportunity to share my platform and reach more people.
4. Are there any stereotypes or misconceptions about wheelchairs users that you would like to clarify?
There is this idea that people with disabilities are unhappy with their lives and who they are. This not the case for many people with disabilities – I love my life and who I am!
5. If there were no rules in your life for one day and you could be outrageous, what would you do?
I would appoint myself supreme leader of the word, hire a bunch of chefs, and then bake billions of chocolate chip cookies to distribute to the entire population.
